He is a fiery competitor and he knows the exhilaration that comes from winning. His philosophy is based upon winning, leadership, conviction and personal growth, whether it is a small company, a giant corporation, a group of athletes or a single individual.

In the summer of 2007, Brown appeared on the ABC show Shaq's Big Challenge to offer words of encouragement to Shaquille O'Neal about helping obese children. He also was an advisor to Matthew McConaughey, who played the role of a coach in the movie We Are Marshall.

During Brown's era basketball rose to a level that no one could have ever possibly imagined. LSU holds the record for the second, third, and fourth largest paid attendance for a regular season game in college basketball history.

All of us seek success and happiness in life, but for many of us there are some very real obstacles, or hurdles, that we must get over in order to reach our goals. Four of the most common hurdles are: “I can’t / You can’t,” past failures or fear of failure, handicaps, and self-knowledge. Overcoming these hurdles begins with a positive mental attitude and a firm commitment to improving one’s lot in life. This inspiring book by former LSU basketball Coach Dale Brown – one of the top motivational speakers in America – is brought to life by intriguing stories of people who overcame life’s hurdles, including athletes, entertainers, writers, and everyday people.
